Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document restaurants, health tidbits, recipes, and travels. Enjoy!

The Hub Coffee (Memphis, TN)

The Hub Coffee (Memphis, TN)

The Hub Coffee is truly a hidden gem of Memphis. Tucked inside High Point Church, this newly opened coffee shop is home to productive study seshes, beautiful latte art, and a strong sense of community. Despite its just having opened at the end of September, word has definitely gotten out! I was so surprised to see that even on a weekday afternoon nearly all of the tables in this place were occupied with people studying or chatting. However, after tasting their delicious coffee and hearing about their cool mission, I can definitely see why.

To be honest, I was a little worried that this location would cause this place not to do well. Yes, I knew that they'd get some church customers on Sundays and Wednesdays, but I pictured the rest of the nights and days to be pretty dead because you have to pretty much go into the church to get into the shop. However, being located within church has most definitely not stopped them from gaining a pretty big following for those in the East Memphis and Germantown areas and there are always several tables filled any time that I go there. Other than the bustling Sundays and Wednesdays, it makes for a great study spot with lots of couches and spacious tables. I actually very much believe that the overall friendly vibe of the place may even make my calculus homework and art history notes a little more enjoyable.

Okay, The Hub's coffee may rank as some of my favorite in Memphis. They feature several local roasters like Onyx coffee and use an insanely good syrup made in Northwest AR called pink house Alchemy! Even if you aren't really a sweet coffee kind of person, I would definitely recommend that you try the Pumpkin Spice Butternut latte (pictured to the left above!) The flavor is so tasty and fall-like without it being overwhelmingly sugary or pumpkin flavored. My favorite drink item probably is the Spanish Latte complete with sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon (also really good with almond milk instead of condensed for no extra charge). Even if you are not a coffee person, The Hub has plenty of tea options to choose from as well. Interestingly enough, The Hub Coffee is also home to some of the most well known baristas in Memphis (including the first place winner of the Chicago latte art competition)! Be sure to ask them any questions you may have because they are always more than willing to answer. Needless to say, whatever drink you decide to treat yourself with will not only be delicious but will be beautiful as well!

Not only is this spot a "hub" for conversation, but it is also a hub for bettering Memphis, giving all of the profits made go towards several local partners such as Asha's Refuge, Agape, and Joy Prom. While they are not technically affiliated with the church, this aspect of The Hub makes this inner church location very fitting. So whether you are wanting a casual coffee date with a friend or a hardcore study sesh, The Hub's got you covered.
